The magic of De Peper Kulture Kitchen

De Peper is one of the public spaces in OT301, one of few remaining independent locations for subculture in Amsterdam.
Here everyone is welcome to hang out, and enjoy what’s happening today, or propose some plan for another day.
The community kitchen is at the heart of De Peper’s politics, where vegan organic food is used as a way to bring people together, nourish the spirit, loosen up tongues, address ethical concerns, inspire the senses, and create shared memories.
There is space to exhibit and an intimate stage for artists of any kind, wrapped in a cozy living/dining room that can be easily transformed to a dance floor or workshop space.
The crew is an inclusive volunteer collective that operates democratically, without boss or management. We make things happen because we each have internal motivation to do so. Our diversity makes us stronger.
It is a multi-faced playground where pro-active and creative individuals with various aspirations and skills can find a platform for their ambitions, meet like-minded or completely different fellows, and develop themselves. And for many, it is a place of belonging.

Yes, De Peper sounds like utopia. But do not be fooled by that term; we do not have any blueprint of some static perfection that we are trying to enact here. De Peper embraces the uncertainties of ever changing aspirations for a shared future. Utopia is a process, not a finite goal, and it involves a lot of work.
De Peper we have now, is the result of the efforts of many people that have participated in the project over the years. Hundreds of people have joined the volunteer collective for shorter or longer, and helped carry and shape the project in some way. Thousands of others were incidental volunteers, such as performing or exhibiting artists and festival organizers. And many more people were visiting our events, creating good vibrations, and donating generously to help cover the expenses. Together we can make magic happen.

You too can be a part of this!

We are proud of what we have been creating, and we hope to share De Peper experience with many more people in the future.
You too can get involved to make that happen!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project is struggling. Because De Peper cannot apply for government covid-support, we need to put faith in our community more than ever before. The project will need extra help to survive another COVID season.

De Peper really needs donations!

We need around €25.000 to cover the basic costs for this cultural season (rent, maintenance, insurance, etc.).
And with another €10.000 we can provide kick-ass programs, even during (partial) lockdowns.
Anything extra will help to rebuild our financial buffers.

All the money donated will be spent on running De Peper project now, and to sustain it for the future.
Every act of kindness counts.

If you've really missed us, and want to return to De Peper one day, donate!
If you have never been yet, and hope to meet us, donate!
If you are a fan of subculture, donate!
If you want to support eco-friendly vegan health food for all, donate!
If you get a kick out of inclusive democratic utopian experiments, donate!
If you got tons of money, definitely donate!

To show our gratitude and how much we value community support in general, the names of all contributors will be painted on our wall and on display throughout this season.

Dare to dream with us, and create some magic.

De Peper would also like more volunteers!

If you live in/around Amsterdam, have time on your hands, and are looking for a new challenge, join our volunteer crew.
We can use cooks, bar tenders, dishwashers, cultural programmers, sound mechanics, curators, event organizers, administrators, promoters, maintenance people, gardeners, bicycle mechanics, performers, security people and more…and any fun-loving people that would like to learn these things.

If you have a great idea to support us in another way, tell us more!
