Hi All,
My name is Sam Watts and I have been teaching Art and Music at Marfa Elementary School for going on 4 years now.
I have always dreamed of creating a weekly class here in Marfa that teaches the children of present day all about the people, plants and animals that came before us here in West Texas, Mexico and the South Western United States.
My goal is to create a year round learning experience that allows the children to see real examples of ancient tools and artifacts up close and in their hands in order to strengthen their connection to the land, it’s true history and all of the magic around us.
The class will be free of charge to area children and will provide all materials and artifacts for study. We will also be bringing in area experts in many fields such as plant life, grass-land birds, ancient art and it's connection to modern art and beyond.
I ask for your support now to make this dream a reality for the kids of Marfa and to create a fund to fairly pay area experts for their time as well as to help with the materials and operations of the class.
For Covid safety, Masks will be required to participate.
