We here at the Lucky Platter have wonderful employees as many of you know. Right now they need your help. With the pandemic they have pivoted time and time again. They have stayed positive and really worked together to make it through these trying times.
All of them have seen their hours cut, some as much as 50-70%. The government checks helped when they were coming in, but the extra $600 stopped months ago and the standard IL amount really hasn't been enough. Also, many of them don't qualify for unemployment or have had the runaround from the unemployment office. This is unfortunately not a common problem these days.
We also have the best guests around, so many of which are tipping EXTREMELY generously and we can't say thank you enough.
But with the dining room having to close and with Covid numbers on the rise it looks like we have to close for some time (a week or more?!) to make sure everyone is safe and tests negative.
This is even more time off of an already extremely cut schedule.
This is our first Go Fund Me campaign. We know that there are so many causes out there and we didn't want flood the pool even more. But we are now at a place where we need the help. The staff needs the help and they deserve it.
I have owned this restaurant for over 7 years and have been in the industry for many years before that. I can say with 100% certainty that this is the best crew I could hope for. I am filled with gratitude every shift and that is directly due to the staff's extremely positive attitude and our guests' extremely generous spirit.
I chose the goal of $10,000 which would give each employee $600. While this will not solve the long term issue, it will be a major help for them to make their rent and pay some bills. Can you please help us reach that goal?
