Imagine looking back at your academic career and realizing that you missed out on valuable opportunities because you struggled to navigate a complex education system alone. That is the reality for many students in the United States. Students hailing from low-income backgrounds fail to graduate high school at "five times the rate of middle-income families and six times that of higher-income youth," according to a study by the National Center for Education Statistics.
Successful high school completion and college success starts as early as middle school. Since its founding two years ago, The Link Scholars has been working to bridge the inequality gap in education by providing NYC middle school students with resources they could not otherwise access. We level the playing field by giving our scholars the tools to achieve success academically and professionally through extensive mentor-ship and workshops, thus enabling them to gain admission to top high schools and programs. For the 2018-2019 school year, we are aiming to accept a larger cohort of scholars from under-served communities. Your donation will help us with hosting expenses, snacks, transportation, and supplies for our students (all of our services are free of charge for our scholars). Any amount is helpful (yes, even $5). Together let’s empower the youth!
