<div><strong> THE LINE</strong>
</div>
<div><strong> A Documentary Film in Development</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Spanish version Below
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Along the coast of Punta de Mita, Mexico, a community is beginning to remember.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What started as a conflict over public beach access has revealed something much deeper: stories of displacement, ecological change, forgotten histories, and generations of people connected to the same coastline.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am currently developing a feature documentary called *THE LINE*.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The film follows fishermen, surfers, families, workers, business owners, community leaders, and longtime residents as they navigate life along a rapidly changing coast shaped by tourism, luxury development, and competing visions of the future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But this is not simply a film about development, protest, or property lines.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At its heart, *THE LINE* is about humanity's relationship with the ocean.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For generations, people have been drawn to this coastline for many of the same reasons: sustenance, freedom, beauty, belonging, and the simple experience of being close to the sea. Fishermen earn their livelihoods from it. Surfers find expression within it. Families gather beside it. Visitors travel thousands of miles to experience it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Yet the very qualities that attract people here have increasingly become part of a luxury product sold around the world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As community members revisit places where homes once stood, recall reefs that have disappeared within their lifetimes, and uncover histories stretching back centuries, a larger question emerges:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**How do communities maintain their relationship with a place when the landscape around them is rapidly transformed?**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The deeper we look, the further the story reaches.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Archaeological sites, oral histories, ecological memory, family photographs, and forgotten stories reveal a coastline that has supported human communities for generations. What began as a contemporary conflict is becoming an exploration of memory, belonging, stewardship, and our shared relationship with the ocean itself.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Why This Story Matters To Me
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I did not grow up beside the ocean.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I discovered it as an adult, and it changed the course of my life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nearly twenty years ago, I left a career in broadcast television and moved to the Pacific coast of Mexico. Since then, I have built my life around this coastline, documenting environmental conservation, local history, Indigenous narratives, community life, and the people who call this region home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The ocean became the place where I found perspective, connection, and a sense of belonging. It became part of my family's life and part of who I am.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is not a story I arrived at from the outside.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is a story I have been living alongside for decades.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Why Funding Is Needed
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This project is currently in active development and production.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The events unfolding in Punta de Mita are happening in real time, but so is the historical research. Alongside filming, I am gathering oral histories, photographs, archival materials, ecological observations, and historical records that may otherwise be lost.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My goal is not only to create a documentary, but to help preserve a historical record that can continue serving the community long after the film is completed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The initial fundraising goal of $35,000 USD will support:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>* Ongoing field production and filming
</div>
<div>* Sound recording and production equipment
</div>
<div>* Editing and story development
</div>
<div>* Transportation and local production costs
</div>
<div>* Media storage and archival organization
</div>
<div>* Historical and archival research
</div>
<div>* Long-term observational access as the story continues to unfold
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Independent documentary filmmaking takes time, trust, and continued presence.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Why Your Support Matters
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This film is being built independently, one conversation, one interview, and one day of filming at a time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your support helps preserve stories that might otherwise disappear. It helps document a coastline in transition. It helps create a film that asks larger questions about memory, belonging, stewardship, and the places we love.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Most of all, it helps ensure that these stories are not lost.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting this journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A line may have sparked this story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But what we're discovering goes far beyond The Line itself.

<div><strong>THE LINE</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong> Un largometraje documental en desarrollo</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Actualmente estoy desarrollando un largometraje documental titulado *THE LINE*.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Por Qué Esta Historia Es Importante Para Mí
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Yo no crecí junto al océano.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Por Qué Se Necesita Financiamiento
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>La meta inicial de recaudación de $35,000 USD ayudará a financiar:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>* Filmación continua en campo
</div>
<div>* Grabación de sonido y equipo de producción
</div>
<div>* Edición y desarrollo narrativo
</div>
<div>* Transporte y costos locales de producción
</div>
<div>* Almacenamiento y organización de archivos audiovisuales
</div>
<div>* Investigación histórica y trabajo de archivo
</div>
<div>* Acceso observacional a largo plazo mientras la historia continúa desarrollándose
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>El cine documental independiente requiere tiempo, confianza y presencia constante.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Por Qué Tu Apoyo Importa
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
