'The life of Riley' charity created in memory of Riley Evans

Hi we are Darren & Nolan, and we will be taking on the challenge of cycling the full length of the UK. We will begin our ride at Lands end in Cornwall before taking on upto 86 miles per day. Our final destination will be in John O' Groats in Scotland where we would have ridden a total of approximately 900 miles across 12 days. With support from Riley's family we are completing this challenge to raise money for a charity called "The life of Riley' that I'm sure will touch many peoples hearts.

The Life of Riley charity is being established in memory of Riley Evans, a courageous young boy from Shrewsbury who fought Burkitt Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. Diagnosed in the summer of 2023, Riley battled the illness with unwavering strength for nearly 13 weeks, all while maintaining his infectious spirit and cheeky sense of humour. His ability to bring joy to everyone around him, even in the hardest times, was a testament to his remarkable character. Sadly, Riley lost his fight in November 2023, at just 12 years old, leaving his family heartbroken.

In honour of Riley’s legacy, his family is founding 'The Life of Riley' charity to support families facing similar challenges. The charity’s mission is to provide financial relief to families affected by the critical illness of a child, offering grants to help ease the financial burden of hospital stays and other related expenses. A key initiative is to sponsor a room at Ronald McDonald House for a year, providing a vital, supportive space for families with children undergoing life-threatening treatment, just as it was for Riley’s family during his time at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Additionally, the charity will offer birthday and party packages for children on hospital wards, helping to bring moments of joy during difficult times—a heartfelt tribute to Riley’s love for family celebrations and parties. Through its efforts, the Life of Riley charity will continue to spread hope and support to families in need.
