He created the world’s first floating city whilst flying the Liberian flag, he built a billion-dollar telecoms company and as a Liberian diplomat he helped rescue 60 Liberian girls from slavery in Oman. When people know the real Samuele, he will be a hero across Italy and the world. For this reason, I’m making a film about Samuele Landi’s life.

<div>In late June 2024 my crew will go to Monrovia to film the funeral being held in Samuele’s honor. We will get the stories of his many friends, meet the girls Mr Landi helped rescue from slavery in Oman. One Liberian diplomat told me: “Mr Landi, he was not just an Italian, he was an African, he was a Liberian, he was a Humanitarian.”

<div>2. The Saya de Mahla (expedition to a secret island):

<div>Samuele may no longer be with us, but his ideas live on. The ultimate goal of this documentary is to inspire others to create a floating city.

<div>Samuele’s final destination for his floating city was the Saya de Mahla – a sunken continent off the coast of East Africa. Samuele had found a mysterious undiscovered triangular island. I will lead an expedition, to investigate this secret island. Will you help me discover a new country?

<div>Then I will lead a dive expedition to film the wreckage of the floating city underwater between Dubai and Iran.

<div>Samuele sent me a message just as I was about to return to the floating city, we were talking about my plans for a documentary in Liberia, he told me: “you have to try for sure, nothing is really impossible.” Samuele was a huge inspiration to me and many others.
