The Legacy Saga - A Fantasy Audiodrama
We are Welcome Mat Radio, a podcast production company based in Los Angeles, California. We are excited to release The Legacy Saga — a fantasy audio drama!
Five college students embark on a quest for revenge after mysterious visions and a violent attack on their isolated province force them into the world beyond their walls.
The Legacy Saga explores themes such as reconciling with one's self as well as one’s familial history, morality, religion, and identity--with queer identities at the forefront.
Our podcast began in 2017 as a long-running Dungeons & Dragons campaign that captured our imaginations and cultivated our creativity. Over the course of the following two years, our campaign transformed into a story and cast of characters near and dear to our hearts.
In November 2019, our vocal director, Matthew Moore, approached Massimo Napoli, our Dungeon Master and head writer, as well as Austin Kendrick, our audio engineer and sound designer with the idea to adapt our story into a podcast. Over the following month, they wrote the pilot episode in secret and snuck into the booths at Austin’s university to bring their concept to fruition.
In early 2020, Matthew, Massimo, and Austin presented that pilot to all of the other players with the hopes of gaining their approval and support in adapting the entirety of the story.
After more than a year of writing, recording, editing, and production, The Legacy Saga is set to release in May 12, 2021.
We are launching our GoFundMe to cover production costs and hosting fees, as well as to compensate artists, actors, and musicians for their donated time and skills that have helped bring our story to life.
