Ok then to cut a long story short, as time is very short.
In a city that has seen weekend adventurers fall from 25,000 to 2,000
over 20 years. A lovely couple buys a venue with dreams and aspirations of giving the residents of Hanley somewhere nice to go of a weekend in a stress free environment and invested everything they have in doing so.
The venue sits amongst about 9 other clubs with only 5 still functioning and these close at 2 am. The current license at "11" is till 3am and generally only starts to get people in about 12.30 which means not a lot of trading hours for the people of hanley to enjoy nightlife onto the early hours.
Having had the venue for a year and half with no trouble and completely changing its reputation from previous brands,
It has been noticeable that people are literally stood on the street for ages after the venues shuts at 3am the very minute it starts to get busy.
So a few weeks ago the decision was made to apply for an extended license till 6am to keep everyone happy for a few more hours. And here lies the problem the police have objected the license giving only till the 26 of this month to contest it
The owners have a found a quality lawyer from London who should be able to assist in helping get the license they need but he costs £6000
Currently with a week left they have managed to get £4000 of that fee together and are still trying as i type
So if any one wants to help "11" and chip anything they can they I'm sure they would be eternally grateful.
They won't know i've done this until i tell them in the morning. so thanks in advance and hopefully a piece on modern day social camaraderie will prevail in helping a lovely couple not lose their entire dream
