The LaBrash Family

It’s with a deeply heavy heart that I create this announcement, in support of my sister Lindsay, brother in-law Nick and their incredible young family.

For those who don’t know Nick, he is a Canadian Special Forces veteran who served his country for 12 years, and very well respected in his current line of work. He is a quiet leader, doesn’t ask for anything from anyone, and loves to spend as much time with his wife and two young kids as possible.

Back in March he began having issues while eating food. Like his body was resisting it. It got progressively worse where he would barely be able to keep any food down. After about a month of this he went to a walk in clinic and the doctor immediately took him on as a patient out of concern.

After some initial testing he came back anemic, and was prescribed iron supplements, but was otherwise healthy. The testing continued, though, as the food issues were still getting worse.

Fast forward to a month or so later and he had a CT scan which showed a lesion at the top of his stomach (where the esophagus meets). He then had a scope/biopsy which confirmed the lesion is cancerous, and aggressive. The following week he was put under in order to have a feeding tube placed and spent nearly a week in hospital being monitored.

On July 9th, 2025 he had a PET scan. The results have come back worse than we could ever imagine. The cancer has spread to a number of places in his body, and the chances of recovering are slim. This is devastating news for Nick’s family and friends, but he remains admirably steadfast.

They are not giving up hope, and are looking to pursue other options in addition to the conventional treatments.

Nick’s wife, Lindsay, has stepped back from running her in home daycare in order to focus on their two young kids (3 yrs, and 10 months), and help support Nick in anyway she can.

We are humbly asking for your financial support in aiding the stress of losing one income, plus seeking alternative treatments. If supporting financially is not feasible, please share this fundraiser with as many people as you can. Prayers and healing thoughts are more than appreciated as well. Thank you so much.

**Edited Sept 6**
After a deeply heartbreaking summer Nick has been denied the chance to try chemo twice, and considered not strong enough to withstand, but would have been prior to the hefty waiting game from our broken healthcare system. Nick is currently in palliative care and we are deeply, deeply heartbroken as a family to say the least!

**Edit Sept 13**
It’s with deepest heartbreak and sadness that I update that we lost our courageous and heroic Nick evening of Sept 11. We are pretty devastated. Life will truly never ever be the same without him. Please keep my sister Lindsay and their wonderful kiddos in your hearts, thoughts, positive vibes and prayers, it’s truly needed and appreciated**
