The Kitchen has been an LGBT+ pop & pop restaurant for over 20 years, serving up your favorite comfort food in our amazing neighborhood of Silverlake. We are on very shaky legs. We need our friends, queer community and foodie fans to help us.
The first lockdown is a blur. It was hectic and panicked. Somehow we made it through, scraped by and kept our doors open. A special thanks to our regulars. Then with the permitting of outdoor seating we were able to have 8 tabes. It helped. We restarted our famous brunch and then the Alfresco parking lot event, which was hugely successful. We were able to take a breath and figure out how to stay open with a skeleton crew. Now seating is gone and this second lockdown is crushing us.
We believe $75,000 will help us through til May. We need help with payroll, utilities, taxes, rent and so on. We all know how quickly these bills can pile up and how tremendously difficult it is for a small private owned restaurant to crawl out of debt.
