<div>Welcome to our journey, a journey of serving the villagers and the community of The Mount Kenya Region in Kerugoya, Kenya.

<div>This community has been built by nothing.

<div>I first visited Kenya with the impression that there was already a yoga community there... how wrong was I! 
</div>
<div>We had to start from absoluelty nothing and its been such a pleasure to witness how many people have supported this vision as well as witnessing the affects of yoga and meditation within a develping country. A project I am thrilled to be a part of.

<div>This Project is backed by our Founder, John a local Kenyan from The Mount Kenya Region, who recognises and promotes the benefits of yoga and holistic health practices, this is where it all started - with a very broken english facebook post with very little information in what I was actually getting myself into. From there, I visited myself and become the Co-founder- bridging the gap between east and west, to help bring more awareness and to help sustain and create a safe, secure community in the beautiful lands of Kerugoya, Kenya.

<div>We started this journey simply by giving guidance and classes with no props, or even adequate space for our students. Simply practicing yoga on the grass or in any tiny spaces we could fit into.
</div>
<div>We started to teach in the local schools and the villagers in the farm and from there we started our first fundraiser which gave us the freedom and fininances to support accomodation for our volunteers as well as funding the materials to start building our own shala!
</div>
<div>We are now expanding our visions and have been blessed with the connection to some devoted souls who will be helping these visions come alive.
</div>
<div>We now have our goals for expansion for 2025 which are as follows:
</div>
<ul>
<li>To generate enough funds to become a registered NGO - only through registering can we get sponsers which will allow us to generate a regular income
</li>
<li>To equipt our shala with props and resources for classes
</li>
<li>To collaborate with more teachers who wish to serve our community
</li>
<li>To create more in person and online events based on donation with all profits going directly to our project and vision
</li>
<li>Finally towards the end of the year to help delevop and enhance the facilities within the local school we are serving such as developing an eco-toilet and building a meditation space within the school

<div>Kenya has a very acute yoga community with very little being offered to the rural villagers and children and young people.
</div>

</div>
<div>We teach at 2 schools at our project, 1 being the children's school ages between 5-11 and classes will support and promote the following:
</div>
<ul>
<li>Combating mental health and wellness from an early age
</li>
<li>Enhanced productivity levels
</li>
<li>Enhanced concentration
</li>
<li>The ability to self regulate and self control emotions which will have huge impacts on their future
</li>
<li>Physical practice supports and enhances the immune system which will reduce the risk of illness and disease
</li>

<div>We also offer classes at the local boarding School where the young adults are divided between sex their ages are between 14-19. At this age young adults are facing many challenges such as:

<li>Alcohol and drug misuse
</li>
<li>Anger management
</li>
<li>Adolesence blockages as they reach puberty
</li>
<li>Stress from exams
</li>
<li>Homesickness
</li>
</ul>
<div>Many of the students here wish to develop their careers in health and fitness and we believe that bringing yoga and holistic health practices can support and promote their career success as well as the relationship with themselves and others. During these classes we prodominetley focus on meditation and pranayama techniques.
