The Katest Shave

As some of you may know, just before Christmas, Kate was diagnosed with invasive carcinoma. Kate has spent the last few weeks going to appointment after appointment mapping out her treatment plan. She has already begun chemotherapy and then will be having surgery, with the potential of further chemotherapy and radiation due to the aggressive nature of the cancer.

Those who have the privilege of knowing Kate know she is one of the most strong, nurturing, dedicated human beings out there. She has spent the best part of her twenties working hard caring for others as a nurse and in aged care. Prior to her diagnosis, she was working full-time in the respiratory ward and at uni, working towards completing her RN qualifications.

She dedicates her spare time to her loving partner, Jason, her three doggos, her family, and her friends.

Kate is a fiercely loyal and nurturing friend who loves to take care of other people. Which brings us to why we wanted to create this fundraiser. Due to the magnitude and intensity of treatment, Kate will need to stop working while she undergoes treatment, which, in today's cost of living crisis, would make things hard for anyone.

Our goal is to raise enough funds so that Kate and Jason can focus on Kate's treatment and healing, and to take the burden of mortgage payments and bills off of them during this time.

Kate has bravely made the decision to shave her head on the 26th of January as she has decided to be in control of her own fate. The amazing Melanie Gordon has decided to show her support and love to Kate by shaving her head alongside her. This is an act of pure love, respect, and bravery. As I am sure most of you know, it is truly a privilege to be able to call both of these powerhouse women friends.
