I'm Eric Doubt, producer of an exciting community film project - The Juke Joint in Acton - A Blues Community.  The first time I stepped into the place I experienced this special vibe: the blues, camaraderie, fun and musicians playing their hearts our for us! You have to be there! But what makes it a project worthy of your love and financial support to help pay production costs (editing, post production sound and colour, release events ?  First have a look at the trailer: https://youtu.be/ZBvypBjn3PI

The Juke Joint in Acton is rooted in old traditions and is a prime example of how many local music venues have sustained  their communities as the pandemic permits. The Juke Joint in Acton  and the film are totally volunteer fueled, passion projects that express the spirit of the blues by creating opportunities for musicians to do what they love for their fans.

Acton, Ontario, is a small town and like many others is home to an enthusiastic group of musicians and music lovers. The Juke Joint  is a private, 'underground' venue in the countryside, opened in the early 2000s as a passion project of former music and festival promoters, Kim Duncanson and her partner, the late Stewart Laing. The mission is to celebrate the Blues and its sister genres and provide a unique venue for both aspiring and established musicians, as well as an unforgettable musical experience for fans. They come to play, sing, dance and connect. Juno wining bands and late night jams for all who bring along an instrument, make memorable weekend evenings during spring, summer and fall.

Please support the film - donate, sponsor, share on social media.  We are also reaching out to the corporate and local business communities and applying for grants to reach the full production budget of $50,000. Note that a portion of the fundraising proceeds will be shared with Guitars for Kids Toronto https://www.guitarsforkidstoronto.com/,  which collects and spruces up donated guitars to give kids in our community a chance to develop their budding musical talent."

Our huge appreciation to Erik Schubert, a Juke Joint co-founder, for providing the first and significant financial support to get us this far.

Watch for invitations to the screening and celebration this summer and for our hopeful entries in music festivals and competitions. For sponsorship and advertising opportunities, contact: Eric Doubt, producer - on Facebook or the web page.
