Just over a year ago, my husband and I learned that we would not be able to have children naturally on our own. After learning this devastating news, we took our first steps towards our dream to create a family and began fertility treatments.
We learned that our insurance covers a small cost of IUI (intrauterine insemination) treatments so after speaking with our doctor, we knew that this was the path we should take. Going into our first attempt of IUI, we had such high hopes and we were so excited to see what the future had in store for us. Unfortunately, our first attempt was unsuccessful… We knew it might not always work on the first attempt so we picked ourselves up and went at it again… then again… and again… and again. We have now been through five IUI treatments and each unsuccessful attempt has broken our spirits more and more.
In addition to the mental and emotional toll from having our hearts broken month after month, the financial stress has continued to grow. Though our insurance covers a small amount of our IUI attempts, we have drained all our finances in hopes that we would be able to create the miracle of having a baby.
After five unsuccessful IUI attempts, we know that our only other option is to move forward with IVF (in vitro). As many of you know, IVF can be extremely costly and unfortunately, our insurance doesn’t cover any of the cost associated with IVF.
At this point for us, our dream of having a family feels as though it’s slipping away every minute. We have exhausted our finances and the heartbreak we endure constantly seems endless. Under any other circumstance, we would never ask for help, but sometimes in life, you have to swallow your pride and ask for help.
Again, we would like to thank you for even taking the time out of your day to hear our story and are overwhelming grateful for anyone willing to help us with this dream of ours. We love you all.
