The John Mason School Charity Run

John Mason School, would like to raise money for 3 chosen charities, these charities have been chosen by our students.

The 3 charities chosen, are Cancer Research UK, Oxfordshire Mind and Oxford Hospitals Charity - which is closely linked to The JR Children's Hospital.

During the Cross Country unit of work, Students will train for the JMS Charity Run. As a school we held a similar event in 2019, raising £8,987!! This money was donated to Cancer Research Uk. However this year, students were passionate that we split the money raised so that donations could go to more than just one charity.

Some background behind each charity:

Cancer Research UK: We all have a reason to Race. Who will you Race for? Cancer is relentless. But so are we. When you fundraise, Every part supports life-saving research. Play your part and together we will beat cancer.​

Oxfordshire Mind: We’re Mind. We’re here to fight mental health. For support for respect, for you. We change minds across England and Wales by making mental health an everyday priority. By standing up to the injustices – in healthcare, in work, in law – which make life harder for those of us with mental health problems.

Oxford Hospitals Charity: The money you raise in your sponsored run will go towards a specific fund within the Oxford Hospitals Charity, which was set up in memory of Gethin Keymer, who sadly passed away after a short illness in December 2022. Gethin’s twin brother Iestyn and younger sister Lilidh are both John Mason students. Gethin had cerebral palsy as a result of being born very prematurely and throughout the whole of his fun-filled life benefited from the excellent care and expertise of the hospital staff. The fund has been set up with the aim to provide equipment for the amazing pediatric cardiology department in Gethin’s name. Thank you so much for your support! Gareth and Nic Keymer
