The In Search of America Project

The In Search of America Project began in 2016 when I went in search of answers to a nagging question: “Is this all that America is about?” This question was the result of countless media broadcasts, media panel discussions, and political rhetoric that constantly left me fending off a sense of hopelessness about the future.

What I found, after nearly four years and more than 82,000 driven miles in my Ford Expedition, is an America that is rich with diversity and community. I found people of generous spirit and welcoming hearts. Yes, there was hatred and anger, but it was not the norm that we have been told it is.

The In Search of America, through the images and stories disseminated via social media, magazine articles, and a podcast series, took on a new role. It was beginning to change the current paradigm that I am asking you to help with.

Since February of this year, once COVID had subsided to safer levels, I expanded the project's reach by delivering public lectures - continuing to share the hundreds of stories I had accumulated.

Now I am reaching out for funding to take this project even further. I have restructured the podcast series and have begun creating a series of video segments to further tell the stories - including new stories that I am currently exploring.

The novel, based on my travels, is well underway and should be ready for publication by the Spring of 2023.

Since January of this year, I have been editing and printing photographic images for the project’s photographic exhibition.

I am also establishing a series of cultural travel programs to further enable Americans to be re-introduced to Americans.

Through this project, I am also exploring the stories of immigration - both documented and undocumented, to help Americans gain a truthful and complete understanding of the issues.

As I have maintained since the beginning, each story is presented without bias. I present all of the facts that are available as authentically as possible so that Americans can make their own decisions from a more completely informed perspective. #StandForSomething
