The Hoppers Family

My sister Megan is the greatest and most selfless woman I know. If you know her, she's probably helped you, in some way. Megan has lent her ear, her couch, her dinner table, and anything she could or couldn't afford, to people in need. Because she is so caring, it was no surprise when she moved to Tennessee to help care for our mother. Our mom was recently diagnosed with cancer, and Megan has been off work for almost a month, caring for mom. Never during that month did she ask for any help. Megan cared for mom in her home, moving bedrooms around to make a comfortable space for mom's last weeks. Megan cooked for her, fed her, bathed her, gave her the medicine needed to comfort her, arranged all doctors appointments and took her to each one. She sat holding her hand until mom passed on December 17th, at Megan's home, in Tennessee.

As our family prepared for mom's funeral, Megan handled the arrangements beautifully and then headed to Illinois, where mom could be placed next to our dad.

On December 21st, just 2 hours into their drive Megan received a heart shattering phone call. Megan's youngest son, Joshua Ray, had been killed in a car accident, on his way to work. Josh was planning to drive up for the funeral after his shift on Thursday. Joshua was only 18 years old, and had every one of his mom's loving characteristics; as well as, a smile that could brighten your darkest days, and baby blue eyes that seemed to dance with energy.

As you can imagine, Megan has already exhausted her time off of work, the bills are piling up, and her heartache has only just begun...as she will be burying her baby boy on Thursday. She did have life insurance on Joshua, but it will barely cover the cost of services.

I rarely ask for anything from my friends, but right now I'm begging for help. Megan needs to be home, with her husband, and other children, and allowed some time to heal..... without thinking of bills.
Some people have asked for an address to send some words of encouragement, cards, or letters to. You can send them to:
Kristina Mershon
P.O. BOX 363
Ashton, Il. 61006.
I will be bringing them to Megan, on one of the trips down to Tennessee.
