^^^ The crush/chute of my dreams^^^

I live in a small corner of south west Scotland and have always wanted to teach the world how to better look after the cows in their care and to promote better care for cows throughout the world ... until I found YouTube I didn't ever think it was a dream that could become reality.

If you watch my videos (The Hoof GP) you'll quickly realise that I don't have the best equipment either for my own health and safety or ... and more importantly ... for the comfort and safety of the cows in my care.

I'm aiming to raise money to buy a FAR better cattle handling chute so that I can continue to promote the industry in as positive a light as possible and continue to help people learn about cattle hoof trimming as far across the world as I possibly can by being able to make more and more educational and entertaining videos about the world of cattle hoof trimming.

Even if you're not able to make a donation ... genuinely thank you VERY VERY much for the support you're giving me just by being here and reading this.

It's truly awesome!

Originally when I started out as a pro hoof trimmer ... I literally had no money to my name and a growing family to provide for  so with a LOT of help from my late step father I set about building a crush by myself - I knew it wouldn't be fantastic ... but I also knew it was the only option.

The photo below is the very first crush I owned ..., I loved it and I wouldn't have achieved what I've managed to without her! Unfortunately though, she really didn't stand the test of time ... being hauled around from farm to farm and dealing with hundreds of cows seriously and quickly took its tole on her ... and eventually she ended up on the scrap heap :(

... although I still wasn't able to manage to buy a new crush ... I did now have a little money and was able to set about building a new much BETTER crush, a stronger, more rugged and capable crush. So that's exactly what I did! The crush below is what I came up with after 2 months of very late nights in my step fathers workshop ... I loved this crush but I'd seriously underestimated the power a determined bull could have!!! The crush was great with cows but almost always failled when it came to be tested by a bull with a temper.  When I finally managed to get her patched up and strong enough to deal with the daily grind ... someone crashed straight into the side of her as I was driving along minding my own business.

The crush itself was ok ... but ALL of the running gear was completely ruined and was totally unable to be mobile again so I was forced to find an alternative ...

...luckily a very good friend came to the rescue and offered to loan me one of his old ones!!! The crush in the picture below is the one I have now. When John sold me it he even allowed me to pay for it in instalments ... otherwise I wouldn't be trimming cows feet today! When I got her she was already 7 years old and had seen well over 100,000 cows!! She's honestly done well for me ... but it's come to a point where it's now becoming a liability and I can only weld on top of welds for so long. The cows could be far more comfortable in some of the more modern chutes/crushes and they as well as me ... would be far safer with a newly designed one.

I feel strange posting this campaign but was encouraged to by a lot of amazing people on my youtube channel!

So .... the target .... the target of £55,000 represents the best crush on the market and the most animal friendly one that's available ... its a completely unrealistic target and most likely an unreachable one ... but to be honest I wasn't planning on doing a gofundme ... so I really hadn't considered what the target should be.

Without the generosity of you guys reading this I won't be able to afford a new more comfortable crush and that's ok ... its a reality I'm comfortable with ... however

with £5000 I'd be able to continue patching up my crush as I am doing but with better materials. GOAL REACHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW

with £10000 I'd be able to sell my crush and possibly buy a reasonably good second hand crush

with £20000 I'd definitely  be able to buy a good second hand crush

with £30000 I'd be able to buy a cheaper model of a new crush

with £40000 I'd be able to buy a good model of crush, which is comfortable and safer for the cows

with £55000 I'd be able to buy the crush of my dreams and would happily be able to teach people on a one to one basis!!

Thank you for taking the time to read through this ... and if you've been able to donate thank you THANK YOU THANK YOU
