Steve and Katie Jo Hollis

Jody and I have had the pleasure of knowing Steve since college and of getting to know Katie over the years here in Nashville since then. Their two precious children Shepherd and Sophie have been such a blessing to them.

Steve has been an educator in Nashville for many years (currently at Brentwood Academy) and played a key role in our choosing to send our kids to B.A.  Many of his students come back to visit him during their college years, which is a testimony to what kind of teacher and man he is.  It is truly a gift and a ministry to love students for Christ, to teach them and to make them think.

Many of you know that in recent years Katie has survived breast cancer, with many of the complications that are common with mastectomies, and for two years she fought her way through difficult treatment and recovery.

During that season the Body of Christ surrounded them, and people helped them in too many ways to count. With the help of many friends, the family has been resilient and has been able to “stay above water” financially through the various surgeries and on-going treatments for Katie, but in that process there are substantial medical bills that accumulated and that still remain.

Furthermore, when Steve and Katie adopted Sophie, many people rallied around this precious little child that needed a forever home. Praise the Lord she made it home to them. As time has gone on, it has become apparent that some of the aspects of Sophie’s earlier years have caught up to her, and the time has come to ask for help once again.

Steve and Katie are not comfortable sharing the details of their daughter’s story on a format such as this, but have decided to let Jody and me create this Go Fund Me account. Now is the time to go down every road and turn over every stone to seek the best resources and care for her. While insurance has covered much of those paths to date, and some places have offered reduced rates, there are still more therapies that need to be paid before Sophie can make progress on her healing journey.

With that in mind, we are asking for help with their mounting expenses. Being a teacher is a high calling, and it is our job as the body of Christ to help those in need among us.

Acts 2:42-47
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

My prayer and hope is that we can come alongside Steve and Katie and help with their financial needs and their emotional needs. It may be a cup of coffee here or there, or a meal, but hopefully we can help with the costs of medical bills that continue to accumulate.

We want this to be organic. Please forward this along to whomever you think may be interested and called to give. Every penny counts and every dollar is a blessing.

Please be in prayer for this and ask for God to bless this wonderful family. Let’s watch God do amazing things in the lives of the Hollis family!!!
