"The Heartbeat, The Hammer" Film

“The Heartbeat, The Hammer” is an independent feature film project, written, directed by, and starring Galen Cassidy Peria. It is being produced in collaboration with Director of Photography, Hugh Mackey, and the good folks at United Bakery Records of New Orleans, Louisiana. The story follows our protagonist, Lee (Peria), who has been missing from friends and family for years, as he embarks on a cross country journey of restoration and redemption. The film is part travelogue, part documentary, part narrative, and all heart.
We are shooting in multiple small-scale units of production, the first with a cross-country skeleton crew and the second with a larger set of professionals at locations in upstate New York. Despite the small nature of the production there are still significant costs associated with the realization of this film. Many dedicated and skilled people are donating their time to the project but there still remain unavoidable budget necessities of transport, lodging, locations, props/ costumes, cast and crew. The initial funds raised will go immediately to work in order to finance our A unit of production this March and April of 2018. We will continue to solicit funding as the project progresses. Any budget items that are not met by the time they are needed in the production will be payed directly out of our pockets so we are extremely grateful for any and all donations to make this film possible. We are also actively seeking formal investors in the film.
The film will feature original music by Galen Cassidy Peria and musical performances by numerous United Bakery label-mates, including Shane Sayers and Joanna Tomassoni. It is the hope of all involved that not only will the final work be a narrative film of great value but also a unique showcase of the roster of talent at this young record label. It is an honour to each of us to be a part of this collaborative and heartfelt project and we take great responsibility in our respective roles of bringing this beautiful and moving story forward; we are so very grateful for your support in making this project a reality.
