<div>Selina “Soul” Davis – A Heart Transplant Journey
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hello, my name is Selina “Soul” Davis. Many of you know me as an educator in the Augusta community for over 30 years, and as a radio personality for the past 24 years.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At age 44, I was diagnosed with heart disease. In 2010, I had a defibrillator implanted, and for the past 15 years, I’ve bravely managed this condition—enduring countless doctor visits, medication changes, and hospital stays.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On May 14, 2025, while at work, <strong>my defibrillator unexpectedly fired. That moment sent me down a new, urgent path</strong>—one that has taken me between hospitals in Augusta and Emory in Atlanta. After a full evaluation at Emory, I learned that my heart condition is genetic. Due to high antibody levels, I have only a 6% chance of receiving a transplant in Georgia.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because of this, my doctors referred me to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From August 3–7, 2025, I underwent extensive evaluation at Vanderbilt. On August 21, I was officially approved for a heart transplant—a life-saving blessing, but one that comes with major logistical and financial challenges.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Before I can be added to the transplant list, I must return to Tennessee for vaccinations. Once listed, I’ll need to travel back every six weeks until surgery, and continue regular visits after the transplant.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>How You Can Help
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your generous support will go directly toward the many medical and logistical expenses associated with my heart transplant journey, including:
</div>
<div>* Pre-transplant testing and evaluations
</div>
<div>* Travel expenses (flights, gas, parking)
</div>
<div>* Hotel accommodations near the hospital
</div>
<div>* Health care team fees
</div>
<div>* Surgery costs not fully covered by insurance
</div>
<div>* Insurance co-pays and deductibles
</div>
<div>* Postoperative care and rehabilitation
</div>
<div>* Prescription medications
</div>
<div>* Follow-up testing and long-term medical care
</div>
<div>* Any other unexpected costs for me and my family throughout this process
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No gift is too small. Every donation, prayer, call, message, flower, and visit has meant the world to me—and will continue to lift and sustain me through what lies ahead.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the CSRA ,and surrounding areas , my family and friends near and far —for embracing me as an educator, a radio host, a community advocate and as “Soul.” Your love is the reason I can keep pushing forward.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With gratitude and love,
</div>
<div>Selina “Soul” Davis
