<div>Globally, hawksbill sea turtles are listed as critically endangered, this means they face the real threat of extinction. Hawksbill sea turtles are also paramount to the world's coral reef habitats. Hawksbill sea turtle conservation assists coral reef conservation as they are the canary in the coal mine. Any place where there are, or should be healthy reefs, there will be, or should be hawksbill turtles. In a large portion of their range, hawksbill sea turtle data is insufficient to make a population assessment and initiate actions that protect and conserve.
