Sara and Heath are expecting their little girl, Logan Ruth, in January 2018. This testimony was written by Sara in October 2017 to explain everything going on with their little angel:

Logan was originally diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. A couple of weeks ago, I asked all of you to pray for us as we headed to Houston to get more scans and meet with surgeons. I have gone back and forth on whether or not to post this, but again I believe in prayer and believe that Facebook offers a great way to ask for prayers.

After our echocardiogram (this is an ultrasound that specifically looks at the heart), we sat down with our new cardiologist. She gave us the news no parent ever wishes to hear, “Your baby’s heart condition is much more severe than what you were told. There is a slim to none chance it is operable and she more than likely will not be a transplant candidate.”

The next day, when we went for our consult after the anatomy scan and MRI, we met with surgeons and a genetic counseling team. The surgeon went through the scan and pointed out multiple issues. In conclusion he said with her heart condition and these other issues, “This one is tough.”.

Our sweet baby, our first child, will get to go be with Jesus before us and our hearts are broken.

I’m only putting this on Facebook to ask for prayers. Before we knew we were pregnant, we were told by the best fertility specialist in the area that we would probably need to do IVF, we had a slim chance of getting pregnant naturally. We prayed and tried for almost a year and God answered our prayers with this sweet baby who will get to be our guardian angel. Our hearts are broken and we need prayers, so I’m going to list them specifically.

Thank you to each person that has reached out to us, prayed for us, called/texted, offered to help, thought about us. Heath and I appreciate you more than you know and we pray everyday that God will bless you in return. *I also feel the need to say, it’s completely okay if you haven’t said anything, called or texted us. We get it, nobody knows what to say, including us. Please don’t feel bad for not reaching out to us. That seems weird to say, but so many people have said they were sorry for not reaching out sooner. Please don’t feel guilty, we completely understand, we are not upset, we know your heart.

1.) Please pray for our peace of mind as well as strength.
2.) Pray that God uses Logan’s life as a platform to reach others for his kingdom, no matter how long or short her life may be.
3.) Pray this trial brings us closer to Him.
4.) Pray Heath and I will be blessed with more children some day with a low chance of reoccurrence.

Any donation would be used for hospital care, expenses while Sara is on medical leave, perinatal hospice, and funeral costs.

Thank you in advance for anything you can give to this precious family. Logan Ruth has impacted so many lives already, and her story will continue to touch many hearts.
