We are raising money for an amazing organisation called The Hamlet .
Based at the stunning Three Sisters Recreation Area in Ashton-In-Makerfield, Wigan.
The Hamlet provides day-provision for those young people aged 19-25 with additional needs, with the aim of progressing them into full-time unsupported employment or voluntary work.
The Hamlet was the brain child of an amazing woman called Gemma Crompton. A teacher with 15 years' experience of working in the special educational needs sector. She recognised that there was a lack of opportunities for additional needs students to help them transition into future employment.
The Light bulb moment
During a walk with her young family to Three Sisters recreational area, Gemma spotted two derelict buildings set amongst a beautiful backdrop and the idea for The Hamlet was born.
With no money to speak of, but with an iron will, Gemma approached the local council and took on the challenge of raising funds to secure the site and build it into a local business where the young people could flourish, working in the cafe or print shop.
What we hope to provide
We hope to raise enough funds to help The Hamlet pay for IT and connectivity Services for the next few years and any additional funds above the target will hopefully allow them to add some much needed PC's to an IT classroom.
Please help us in raising as much as possible. We think it is an amazing cause, the students are a truly inspiring group of individuals and Gemma is a role model.
We are hoping to raise £3000 which should pay for IT and connectivity services for the next 5 years and we're looking to do this by the end of April 2020
