Thank you for connecting with this GoFundme page to benefit The Grupo Madre Teresa BCS.

Grupo Madre Teresa is a non-denominational non-profit organization serving the rural community of El Pescadero.  This local community group provides vital assistance to individuals and families in crisis.   Assistance comes in many forms: weekly hot meals for the elderly; dispensas for families without food; medical assessments; educational supplies; diapers (adult and child); clothes and so much more.  Grupo Madre Teresa BCS works to create a healthy community by providing vital support to address  the most critical needs.  We are better together!

Gregorio's story:
Covid-19 has hit the South Baja community of El Pescadero hard and I came to know the hardship personally when I tested positive in July.  I have owned a ranch near Pescadero since the late 1960’s and have been living and working in the area for many years.  Despite being in a rural location with limited technology, I was able to recover from the virus thanks to the care of The Grupo Mother Teresa Food Bank BCS.

When I fell ill, I had to self-isolate for three weeks after departing the hospital.  During this time, members of the Grupo Mother Teresa team came to my home twice per day to bring me specially cooked foods and assist me in returning to health.  I was so touched by their generosity of time and care that I wanted to give back following my recovery and was shocked to see the level of need nearby.

Rural towns in southern Baja California are filled with indigenous families living in extreme poverty.  Lack of work due to the Covid pandemic has exacerbated the situation.

I am soliciting support to give back to the grassroots organization who recently provided aid to me and is truly the point of last resort to so many in our community.

This struggling agency, headed by Giovanni Espinoza, provides food and medical care to needy families in town and the surrounding mountain communities.  All are served regardless of ethnic background or religious beliefs.

Warm blankets, socks and coats are needed for these chilly winter nights.  Food Staples are distributed weekly to 200 families.

Please consider contributing what you can to assist us in providing basic necessities to those in need this holiday season and beyond.

Thank you for your kind generosity.

Muchas Gracias,
