I am reaching out to anyone and everyone who might be able to help us fight an abuse investigatiin findings from The Child Protective Team/DCF?  Our sweet Everlee Grace was adopted by us last year (we took her as her medical foster care parents's at 1 yr of age).  Everlee is a terminally ill, EXTREMELY medically complex 3 year old!!!  On October 23rd, 2020 Everlee managed to fall sideways on a metal/hard plastic umbrella adaptor I had on the side of her wheelchair (see photo below).  This incident took place during her routine nap time (2.5-3hr time frame) in which Everlee sleeps sitting at a recline in her wheelchair.  On this day Everlee managed to bring her head to far forward and her torso fell on top of the adaptor.  Everlee never cried out or sounded to be in distress (we keep a video baby monitor on her so we can hear).  I do my house cleaning during this nap period and as such an not physicality looking at the monitor, but can hear it!!  At noon when my alarm went off to go check her and get her out of the chair I walked in to find her leaning sideways (waist & but still buckled in place) and her abdomen on her left side on top of the adaptor.  Everlee was still asleep and in no apparent distress!!!  I  checked her from head to toe, palpated her belly, checked her neck mobility and looked for any signs of bruising or injury (she had NOTHING).  A month went by with ZERO symptoms outside of her baseline and absolutely nothing to indicate she was hurt!!!!!!  Everlee has Hospice weekly in our home, was in the ER a week after the fall for a gtube malfunctioning and not one Dr., nurse or medical staff saw any indication of injury!!!!  She saw Neurology and Pulminology through telemedicine appointments and both saw her and her vitals from her o2 monitor with NO concerns!!!!!  On November 28th I noted she was more lethargic than normal, had not had a BM (she has dumpling syndrome up to 5 times a day) as well as her heart rate being elevated and not coming down.  I had a Hospice nurse come evaluate her and they gave me the option to just "making her comfortable" .  I really felt in my mommy gut that something was wrong and I needed verification from the hospital that we truly could do nothing more!!!  My heart is just not ready to let her go and I don't feel she is ready to go!!!!  During this hospitalization it was discovered that Everlee suffered a laceration and bruise (one on one side and one on the other) on the neck of her pancreas.  She had developed a fluid filled sack around her pancreas as a self preservation method and according to medical staff it helps explain her lack of obvious symptoms!!  Only 12% of pancreatic injuries have any external marks and she did not!!!!  Due to her baseline behavior being lethargic, itritable and uncomfortable some days and happy, clapping and cooing the next it made ifentifyiling this injury IMPOSSIBLE!!!!  Shands attending documented that the injury was a freak accident and that we could not have known she was hurt!  Hospice saw her every week and confirmed no concerns or indication for abuse nore did they ever detect she was injured.  We took lie detector tests and passed and have no findings of criminal abuse!!!  Everlee was on a seizure medication that is know to cause life threatening pancreatitis and when combined with an injured one will prevent healing.  Everlee continued to be fed through her gtube daily and as such her pancreas could not get rest to heal!!!!  DCF/CPT refuse to accept any of our account of what happened and even told me at was "bull shit" to my face!!!!!!  They are trying to close the case as verified findings of abuse regardless of the evidence indicating otherwise!!!!!!!!!  Our children have not been sheltered and we have a safety monitor required to live with us!  We desperately need to hire a lawyer with specific experience going after DCF/CPT and then one I found near us requires a retainer fee of $5,500.  They spoke with me in good detail and agreed to represent us!!!!  PLEASE help us raise the funds needed to retain this lawyer and ensure not just that our reputation is preserved, but most importantly that our children are safely kept in our home!!!!  As of now our children have not been sheltered, but that dose not mean they will not try at a future date!!!!!!!
