The Graunkes' Ministry Residency

God is calling us to our next adventure! Since 2012, I have been the Minister at Martelle Christian Church, a wonderful congregation here in eastern Iowa. This past year, God has led us to the conclusion that He was calling me to my next ministry. After a lot of prayer, searching, and the counsel of trusted friends, we have found the door God has opened to us.
I have concluded my ministry at Martelle Christian Church, and currently we are partnering with Christian Evangelistic Mission (CEM), a church planting organization, to establish a new church in a nearby part of Iowa. The first phase of this is for me to complete a six-month residency with CEM at Antioch Christian Church in Marion, Iowa, learning from the staff leadership and ministry skills that will equip us to start the new church.
We have been challenged to raise a portion of our living expenses for this residency, and we have set a goal of raising $850 per month for the six months, or $5100 total, with CEM and Antioch contributing the rest of our expeses.
We are asking you to prayerfully consider helping us meet our fundraising goal by donating through this site. Your gift will help us continue to pay our bills, put food on the table, and meet many other everyday expenses during this residency. This way, we won't have to take extra jobs (which would mean time away from the limited number of hours per week I spend with the Antioch staff, and time away from family) to pay the bills.
You can give a gift of any size, but we are challenging you to consider helping us "fill the map" of Iowa. Iowa has 99 counties, so for each $51.51 raised, we will fill in a county on our map. Once the map is full, our fundraising goal will be reached! Would you consider sponsoring a county (or more if you'd like!) to help us prepare to start a new church in Iowa?

We invite everyone to pray for us, for Antioch Christian Church, and for the new church to be established in the near future. Every year in the US, more than 4000 churches close their doors for good, while less than 2000 new churches are started. Pray that God will use these new churches (and us as well) to help stem the tide of people leaving the church and to establish new, healthy strongholds for the kingdom of God.
