Hey y’all! Our names are Josh and Pam Goodman. We are so glad that you found our page and hope you enjoy our journey.

Anyone who knows us, who truly knows us, will say that we are simple. We enjoy being outside with our dogs, driving down old dirt roads listening to country music, and spending time with our friends and our family. We aren’t extravagant people but we think our life is perfect. Until this moment, we have never truly shared our dream and the journey we have been on to become parents. So folks… here we go…

Our story is one that most people either wish they had or would stay away from with a 6 foot pole. When we met, Josh quickly shared that the likelihood of us getting pregnant naturally was going to be impossible. Of course, the confession took Pam back but did not stop the relationship from moving forward. A little background on us, we love and we love hard. We have been through good times and just as equally hard times but with our faith and the guidance of the Lord, we know that there is a plan for us.

In December 2014, only 2 short months after we became Mr. and Mrs. We went through our first and only cycle of IVF (Invitro Fertilization). We researched, planned, took the shots, went to the appointments, had the procedures and Pam lay with her legs in the air for the hours proceeding the delicate embryo transfer. We will never forget the moment our doctor called us with the news that our dreams had not come true. Josh felt defeated and Pam cried and cried. After several days, we dusted ourselves off and we moved on.

It took us about a year to recover from that loss. Then, we started discussing fostering. Josh was in foster care as a child where he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Because of Josh’s history we knew we just wanted to give a child a good, safe home, even if that meant temporary. So, we did the research, took the classes, did the home study and became certified. Our amazing friends threw us a foster care shower and the support that came from that was overwhelming. When all the planning was done, we began the wait. We waited for the call. We waited longer for the call. We received some calls for placements but due to our small townhouse we were unable to take the sibling groups that were in need.

During this time the opportunity came up for Josh to be considered for a pancreas transplant as a form of treatment for his Type 1 diabetes. After months of appointments, tests and traveling he was accepted and placed on the UNOs transplant list. In 2017 we relocated to Arizona to be closer to Josh’s transplant center and Pam’s family. A month after being in AZ, the call came, Josh had a donor pancreas. The months proceeding the transplant were physically, mentally and financially exhausting. Unfortunately, 10 months after his transplant, Josh rejected that organ. He is now a Type 1 diabetic again, which is a tough pill to swallow but we do not question God’s plan. Josh is healthy; thanks to the providers he sees who are dedicated to his care.

During those 10 months that Josh was transplanted and the months after his rejection becoming parents seemed like a dream that was so far away. A dream that was meant for other but for some reason not for us. Until the day that God spoke to each of us on the EXACT SAME DAY. So here we are… fighting for our dream, a dream that God placed on our hearts so long ago.

Adoption has NEVER been out of the question for us. As previously stated, Josh was in foster care as a child and was adopted by a wonderful woman. She saved him. God placed her in his life and truthfully, they saved each other WE want to give a child a safe, loving, permanent home.

Unfortunately, with hurdles in our life, we are fundraising for this dream of ours, as adoption is a very expensive process. Some of the fees that are associated along with adoption include fees for the, application, home study, interviews, classes and placement. We have fought some big hurdles and mountains in our marriage and know that this is the only way to make this dream come true. We know this is a lot to ask. So we ask you to pray. Pray to God if this is something you should contribute to.
