The Golden Rule Clothes Closet

The Golden Rule Clothes Closet and More, Inc., has been distributing clothes and other household items to the needy of our communtiy  cost-free for over 25 years.  In 2016, the dollar amount of the items distributed, using IRS donation values, was over $1,000,00.00.  There were over 7100 families visiting with over 40,000 people served.  Many families shop for school clothes for their children,  Others shop for clothes to make a good impression during a job interview.  During the fall, winter clothing and bedding is badly needed to make it through winter. At times we provide household items and furniture for those who lost all to housefires or other natural disasters.  As with other non-profits, funding sources have been meager due to the economy and other demands made on family incomes.  At present, we are in a place where the Clothes Closet will have to shut its doors due to the lack of operating funds.  Any and all donations will be used to pay utility bills and other operating costs.
