The Ginny Jo Sensory Garden
O.L.W National School Bluebell needs our help! It’s a long established school that has recently established a special class for children with Autism and hopes to cater for more children with Autism in the future.
Most schools with this type of class have a sensory garden where children can have quiet time in a safe environment when they become frustrated and overwhelmed, their world looks different to ours some days and that’s scary.
If this was a new purpose built Special Needs Unit it would come fully equipped with such a facility, but as an established school it does not qualify for any Department of Education funding towards it.
The people of Bluebell past and present intend to fundraise to make this necessity a reality- A D.I.Y - S.O.S type project.
We welcome any input from local landscape gardeners /planners experienced in drawing out plans and safe planting that would be happy to get involved with this project and donate their expertise and their time to be part of making this happen,
We will also be approaching local business for donations both € and materials and any local tradesmen that can give a few hours when the work starts .
It’s only at the early stages of planning now but already we have some fun ideas for fund raising jotted down that we hope to kickstart in the summer and we welcome any suggestions anybody else can add
All we ask if you can get behind this project and give it your full support it will be an easier job
