The Gift of Sight for Moses Sousa

I am looking to raise funds in order to purchase a visual aid called ESight for my husband Moses Sousa.
ESight is an electronic set of glasses that allow many legally blind individuals to see and function much more normally and independently than they otherwise would.
Moses was born legally blind, he is diagnosed with Bilateral Optic Atrophy (BOA).
BOA is a condition that affects the optic nerve, which carries impulses from the eye to the brain.
Characteristics of BOA involve deficits in central vision, difficulties distinguishing contrast, loss of visual acuity, and changes in the color and the structure of the optic disc.
Sadly, traditional corrective lenses don’t work and haven’t done anything to aid Moses with this condition or assist in day to day life.
Without the ESight Moses has only 10% vision left.
The ESight devise helps Moses see between 40-50%.
What a Difference, don’t you agree?
Being legally blind he cannot do a lot of things, like driving or watching our 9 year son play sports, perform in a play or be able to venture out a few meters from my husband before he yells to remind my son to stay closer where he can see him.
It would allow him in being able to help our son with his homework.
It would help him with everything from reading food packages and medicine bottles, to working on a computer (something he needs to do for his job), navigating unfamiliar areas, reading street signs or even reading a restaurant menu or off the restaurant order boards hanging behind the cashier.
ESight would give him some independence to go about and live doing things by himself, without having to always rely on others.
When I’m at work during the day, usually he cannot go anywhere by himself, he feels isolated and depressed.
ESight would allow him to go out and venture into the world on his own without any help.
Can you imagine the freedom?
Everyday activities that you and I may take for granted are made much more difficult and even almost impossible for him to do or participate in due to his condition.
ESight, through its advanced feature set and technology, would alleviate much of the stress and eye strain surrounding the everyday activities mentioned above and many more besides.
If his eyes don’t strain so much, he might be able to go a day without headaches and migraines. He suffers from them every single day.
Can you imagine the torture?
ESight is very expensive. Technology is getting better and better, but does not come cheap.
That is why I am reaching out.
Money that is raised will go towards purchasing the unit and accessories.
If we were to surpass this goal, these extra funds would be applied toward unit maintenance and future upgrades.
