State College DIY Gig Space

Calling on friends, loved ones and community members to help raise money for a deposit on a 1500 sqft prospective DIY show space at 110 Hetzel Ave. There is a lot of potential for the space, and I am willing & able to work to keep it going with my own money. However, after notifying the landlord about what this space will be used for, he doubled the deposit and will only be holding this place for us until August 25 so time is of the essence! The necessity for legitimate spaces is crucial in the interest of cultivating and maintaining creative communities! This is especially true in State College, a community which experiences a great deal of transience which makes it difficult to keep venues open for over a year and even more difficult to foster growth within a community of creatives constantly coming and going year after year. This could be the first legitimate DIY space in town in a position to support the growth and artistry of State College’s largely underground creative communities.
Ok. That's the pitch, here's the deal. Throw cash at me to help open this place up & I'll not only write you a thank you card but I'll also let you
1. Host shows
2. Put up your art for sale/hang your art in the space
3. Market the hell out of your music
4. Let your band practice there
5. Let your band play there
6. Let you in to shows for free if you give me a significant chunk of change
7. Constantly give you praise and support in your own endeavors
8. Eventually give you that money back once the space is going
9. Music???
10. That's all the things I can think of, I'll probably bake you a birthday cake on your birthday if you want that too
I am going to take out a small business loan in order to purchase a few things that the space will need, but it won't be dispersed in time to cover the deposit. Consider this a community investment, and if you don't think that I can run this place well then show me what you are made of and help me run it.
