The Gage Park Wheelchair Swing Fundraiser

This fundraiser is for a wheelchair swing to be installed in Gage Park, located in Hamilton, Ontario. The cost of the swing is $32,000. This includes the installation of the swing, the rubber surface and the surrounding fence. The fence is essential for everyone's safety. I know the cost seems extremely high. The number can be very overwhelming. On top of this Go Fund Me I am actively applying for grants, corporate donations and fundraising through other platforms so the goal number will be lowered accordingly.
This wheelchair swing is special. The design makes it so the user does not need to be transferred out of the wheelchair to swing. Although there is an accessible swing at Gage Park, it is not accessible for everybody. As new designs and technologies evolve, we need to do the same. The Liberty Swing is the best design for playgrounds. It allows maximum swing height meaning the user is doing more than just rocking back and forth. The swing holds a maximum weight of 550 lbs. Gage Park is the perfect location for this because of all the festivals held there, and the fact that it is in the heart of the city. This is a crucial step in creating an inclusive playground.
The City of Hamilton has approved this idea and once the amount is raised it will be installed. It would be so greatly appreciated if you could donate anything. If you are unable to donate simply sharing the fundraiser in any way you can is just as good. The more people this reaches the more likely this swing will become a reality.
