We opened Gatefold Record Lounge in October 2016 as Hitchin's own independent record shop. It's been an incredible 2 years and we're eternally grateful to have seen it grow into an awesome community of supportive customers and music lovers.
Even with an initially joint concept of being both a record shop AND coffee shop, we're proud to have built a varied selection of new and used records, giving sorely needed attention to genres that most mainstream shops dismiss as 'niche' or 'specialist', including jazz, electronic, hip-hop, RnB, soul/funk/disco, metal and more.
We've recently refocused our attention on solely being the best record shop we can be for Hitchin, and have exciting plans in the pipeline for the future!
It's no secret that rents and business rates on the high street are a challenge for any business, so we've made the essential decision to move into less expensive premises that will drastically lower our overheads. We'll still be on Hermitage Road and have the same space to fill to the brim with an increased amount of new & pre-owned records, and a wider range of accessories and Hi-Fi.
The move is going to be expensive, so we'd like to ask for your help. We're aiming to raise £10,000 to help make it happen. This will cover all of the costs associated with starting a new lease and moving everything in to our new abode. However, your donation will not only be helping to secure the high street presence of Gatefold in Hitchin, you'll also get a reward for your donation!
