The FotoEvidence W Award for Women Photographers

Donation protected
FotoEvidence, a non-profit organization, relies on grants and personal donations to fulfill its mission. This year, we are asking our supporters to help susaintain the FotoEvidence W Award, which provides photographers who identify as women with the opportunity to push the boundaries of documentary photography and share their personal story in a photo book.

Since 2010, FotoEvidence has awarded more than $2,000,000 to dedicated, humanistic photographers to publish their work in books. A non-profit with no endowment, the FotoEvidence team raises the funds for each book to continue using photography to expose injustice and provoke societal response.

Over more than a decade, FotoEvidence has published 42 books addressing a wide range of issues in 28 countries, including genocide, violence against women, the treatment of the mentally ill, modern-day slavery and ecological disasters.

Today, women around the world are still seeking equal rights and equal opportunity. To support this global movement, in 2019 FotoEvidence launched the W Award, devoted to engaged identifying as women photographers who want to tell their personal stories in the form of a photo book.

The W Award engages the grantee, selected by an international jury, in a educational and creative process with a photo editor and book designer to realize their vision and produce a powerful book. The beautiful and important work of the W Award winners include: La Puente by German photograper Charlotte Schmitz, The Eyes of the Earth by Iranian photographer Solmaz Daryani and The Longings of the Stranger Whose Path Has Been Broken by Egyptian photographer Rehab Eldalil.

Please join FotoEvidence in making this opportunity available another female-identifying photographer this year.
