<div>In January 2020, I received the devastating news that I had advanced metastatic prostate cancer. Since then, my life and Polly’s have been a relentless battle. Over the past six years, I’ve endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy, many sessions of radiotherapy, and even Radium-223 treatment. Right now, I’m undergoing my third chemotherapy program.

<div>Despite everything, my cancer continues to progress. Recently, we were told by the NHS that there are no further treatment options that they can provide to me but, even with this heartbreaking news - we refuse to give up!

<div>Our hope hinges on a revolutionary treatment that is available privately:  Lutetium-177, a targeted radionuclide therapy designed to deliver radiation directly to cancer cells while minimising damage to healthy tissue. 
</div>

<div>Like you often see in the news, this is an example of a medical treatment that has shown promising results in slowing disease progression and improving quality of life for patients, but one that either has not completed all trials or is too costly for the NHS to support. Lutetium-177 specifically shows its promising results in patients like me, but it is only available privately and comes at a significant cost of <strong>£80,000.</strong>

<div>I LOVE life.  Every time I stand in front of my sailing students I feel alive; every time I walk into the RNLI I want to help support Saving Lives at Sea; every day I get to treasure with Polly and our beloved family and friends, I just want to make more memories.  Extra time would mean so much.

<div>And, if it is to be the last phase of my life, I would also like to play my part in testing a pioneering treatment that could potentially help 1000’s of others in the years to come.  All of my doctors have been outstanding, and have worked so hard to help us, and if some data about my treatment path can help others in the future, we feel that is also worth fighting for.
