The Fellowship of Brett

In mid-November we found out my dad, Brett Adams, was diagnosed with brain cancer. Since then our family have been haunted by the question “what can we do to make this easier for him?”.  The hard truth is coping with a cancer diagnosis isn’t easy. There is so much to juggle as you learn about the disease, discuss treatment options, deal with symptoms, and develop a plan to stop the scariest thing you could ever face. It is overwhelming and could bring the strongest person to their knees.

Despite all this stress and fatigue Brett has maintained his sense of humor, tough stoicism, strength of will, inner vitality, level headedness, and concern for the well-being of everyone else before thinking of himself. He is the most selfless person I know and has ALWAYS put his family’s happiness above his own. The best example of this was the very first thing he said after telling me about the diagnosis. All he wanted to talk about was what we were going to do for my mom’s birthday and how we were going to make it special for her. Even with all the blubbering and emotions I was coping with I couldn’t help but smile because he was still himself; always thinking of others.

So that is where this page comes in. I wanted to give some of the generosity and love back that he has put out into the world. Because of his symptoms and while he is getting treatment he is unable to work. I have been doing my best to help the financial burden as much as possible but I have had my own medical issues recently that have affected my ability to work. I have had an overwhelming response from friends and loved ones asking if they can help us in any way and that is what inspired me to start this page.

This fund will help with things like:

-Medication

-Medical bills and co-pays

-Household bills

-Gas and car upkeep from driving to and from so many appointments

-Meal delivery

-Other small expenses that really add up after a while.

As many of you know my family doesn’t like asking for help. We would rather help others but this time we are the ones who could use a little help. So thank you all for all the love and prayers you have been giving us. We are feeling the love and are so thankful to all of you for showing us how much you love my dad.

If funds are tight yet you still want to help we are updating Brett’s Caring Bridge site regularly with updates and ways to help.
