The Family of Charlie Cody

December 28th, was a normal day filled with daily tasks and conversations until 5:41 pm.  Our family received a phone call with shocking and unexpected news.  Our beloved family member, Charlie Cody passed away unexpectedly from complications due to the flu.  Within a thirty minute span, we learned that Charlie had been taken by ambulance to the hospital a few blocks away from his house and that he died shortly after arrival.  It was, and is still so very shocking as we were all together three days earlier celebrating Christmas as a family.  Never, did we think this would be our last Christmas together.

Charlie was young, only 54 years old and leaves behind his wife and best friend Juliette (our youngest sister), who he has been married to for 27 years.  He leaves behind the greatest joys in his life, his children Caitlyn and CJ.  For those who have not met Charlie, he was a person with many wonderful qualities.  He was a dedicated husband who cherished Juliette and a hard worker who always put his family above all other things.  His first child Caitlyn was born with Jacobson’s Syndrome.  As Charlie recently said in a Facebook post, “Outsiders who don’t know you Caitlyn, may see you as a challenge, but to us you are a GIFT of unconditional love and joy.”   He and Juliette have been the perfect parents and caregivers for Caitlyn. CJ is a junior at Serra High School in San Mateo.  Charlie was so very proud of CJ, for his good grades and most recently when he helped CJ purchase his first suit. But, Charlie was most proud of CJ for the kindhearted, young man he has become.

 

We have created this Go Fund Me page for Charlie’s family.  Caitlyn will continue to need substantial care in the years to come and CJ will go to college in eighteen months.  During this profound time of grief, we thank you in advance for your support whether financial, emotional, or prayers for peace and strength.
