The Eaton Theatre Needs Your Help!

Donation protected
In March 2020, Governor Whitmer ordered movie theaters to shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic entering Michigan. Other states had also begun shutting movie theaters down as it was imperative that the US "flattened the curve".  Since then, with hardly any movie theaters open to show movies, film studios began postponing their movie releases to 2021 leaving these movie theaters owners to scramble to make ends meet.

The Eaton Theatre was able to continue selling concessions so long as social distancing guidelines were followed during the shut down. "We're happy to give families and kids a sense of normalcy" Leann, the owner of the Eaton Theatre, said to local nonprofit back in June 2020. However, despite this, Leann is still fearful as to how long she can hold on without showing new movies. (
Some movie theaters have resulted to showing older movies. However, many older movies require royalties up front and those royalties can be pricey.)

With the winter season quickly approaching, the Eaton Theatre faces a possible decrease in concession sales and increased expenses for things such as heat. We are hoping to build up a little nest egg to get us through until the spring. Should we pass our nest egg goal, the additional funds will go towards things such as repairing the projector and hanging up our marquee.

Should you donate, we will add your name onto an a special advertisement slide thanking you for your contribution to keeping our historic movie theater afloat.

We are so very thankful for our community's support during this tough time and look forward to showing movies again real soon!
