Help save the sugar bread, y'all!

WHO WE ARE
Hey y'all! My name is Trey Smith and I am the head beignet slinger for Dusty Biscuit Beignets, Fort Worth's own (and only) standalone sugar bread shop. Located on South Main, our small brick and mortar brings the French Quarter to Funky Town with our unique sweet and savory take on NOLA-style beignets.

WHAT WE NEED
Right now we are fighting to right our ship at present and keep our future dusty and bright! We are humbly coming to our customers and the public seeking assistance to with working capital, getting on a grip from our debts snowballing from COVID, and ultimately, Lord willing, expand.

HOW WE GOT HERE
In 2019, we started as a super small and humble pop-up that was a side-hustle project of a high school teacher (me!). Our pop-up popularity skyrocketed and led me to jump out in faith in January of 2020 and move full-time in to an Airstream stand on South Main. While we were still finding our footing, COVID hit in March, and we fought tooth and nail to make it. Many of you rallied to our cause. My goal was to "fall forward" and not let the turbulent climate knock us out. During this fight I found our tiny yet mighty spot for our brick and mortar right down the street.

However, keeping afloat required taking on unexpected debts. While we secured financing for our new space, a myriad of factors caused the process to take a year longer than anticipated, leaving us with almost no working capital at launch. We white-knuckled through it, but the accumulated debts (plus trying to support a family) hog-tied the business and drained our profits.

Six months ago I let y'all in on our plight, and the support was incredible. Many of you went out of your way to support us (and several even gave to help our business vehicle issues at the time). To take some pressure off the business, I even went back to the classroom to support my family.

While this has certainly helped in a lot of ways, we are now at a pivotal point. Our brand and product is popular and we are always entertaining opportunities to grow and thrive. However, our financial situation has us hamstrung and unable to take advantage of the

BUSINESSES CLOSE ALL THE TIME. WHY SHOULD I HELP?
Businesses do make the hard decision to close all the time. Most of the time we don't even realize they are struggling until we get the article announcing they are closed. We aren't willing to go quite so quietly.

If I felt that we were truly a failed concept then I would have shut it all down a long time ago. However, I know that people love our concept, our product, and our story. The business has not had the opportunity to stand on its own two legs without carrying the burden of 18+ months of struggling through COVID and the fallout from that. Consequentally, this has turned several opportunities for expansion and growth into non-starters.

Your help keeps the lights on and doors open. WIth enough support, we can clear debts that are draining our profts and allow us to stand, hopefully expand, and ultimately thrive. This is an integral time in our story, and you can be a huge part of it.
