The Dulaks' Harvey Relief Fund

Donation protected
The after affects of Hurricane Harvey are still being absorbed and processed by so many along the Texas coast. As soon as Houston started to drain, towns that are situated "down stream" began to have rising water.

My in-laws, Ed and Sharon Dulak, have a home in West Columbia, Tx and was one of the homes to receive flood damage from the San Bernard River's overflow of water. Last week, we received confirmation that approximately 3 feet of water had taken over their home. My husband, along with several other family members, sprang into action the moment the water was gone a few days later.  Their home is nowhere near a flood plane (so of course no flood insurance) and we have confirmed that their regular home insurance covers absolutely NOTHING. And let's be honest...we aren't exactly holding our breath to see what they will get from FEMA.

While 3 feet isn't nearly as devastating as water to the the roofline, it is still plenty to cause just about everything in your home to be damaged beyond repair.  Appliances, furniture, bedding, clothing, books, the list goes on. Over the weekend, several family members and friends gathered to take ten truck and trailer loads to the nearby landfill. While the clean up phase is coming to an end, the replacing/rebuilding phase is just beginning.

While there are many other families worse off, we have heard from several friends who would like to provide some financial help. We are not looking to raise all the funds required to completely fix their home. That would make the goal of this fundraiser up in the $50,000 range. Instead, we are looking to help them replace a few of those big ticket items - specifically their bed, some appliances that have not been donated, additional bedroom and living room furniture & mandatory repairs (such as A/C and water well repair).

Thank you so much for considering them and for the outpouring of love over the past week. They have worked tirelessly their whole lives and are always so willing to give freely to others - they are the kind of people who do without to ensure others have what they need and more.

As the in-law in the bunch, I have said time and time again that I have hit the jackpot when it comes to the family I married into. They are truly wonderful people. They have always put God first and make sure that He is glorified in ALL things. Even now. Especially now.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and financial help.
