The DeWinter Group Pledge

There are more than enough words to capture the feelings of the past week: anger, confusion, rage, disbelief, frustration, failure, shock, disappointment, horror, and profound sadness. We should be honest with ourselves and include regret. Regret for not doing more when we had opportunities to take a stand in our everyday lives. Regret that we had not done something more, something profound or something small. Regret at knowing the world we live in today would look different and so much better if it included the souls lost to the callused hands of an unjust system. Regret at not opening our eyes wide enough to see clearly or listening, really listening, to what was happening around us. 

Enough is enough.


Please pledge along with all of us at the DeWinter Group and Maris Consulting Group that you will put yourself in the conversations, do the hard work, make the effort, use your voice, lead with action, vote, love, see and listen more than ever before so the word regret is never associated with our efforts to eliminate racial inequality.
