The Devoted Barn is an animal rescue and rehabilitation facility in Holly, Michigan. We take in animals of all kinds from cruelty, neglect, and large scale hoarding cases. We help animals that are unowned and that need urgent medical attention. We also have a large feral dog program. These animals come to The Devoted Barn to heal both physically and emotionally. They learn to trust and love again, or for the first time, with the help of at risk youth and special needs adults who come to work at the barn. In addition to helping the animals, our mission is to teach compassion & empathy to others through working with our animals.

The Devoted Dog Project is a 3-phase Campaign to protect the dogs in our Dog Program. At the end of February, the township we reside in issued a judgment that we have 60 days to remove all the dogs in our program from the property. This was devastating news to all of us and began as a noise complaint.

The first Phase was to file an appeal which would enable us to try and get a stay to keep the dogs on the property while going through the appeal process. With the help of some wonderful donors, we were able to raise enough to file the appeal.

The second phase, which is where we are now, is to raise the funds to house the dogs off site for up to a year if the stay is not granted. We will need to move the dogs by the end of April. If by some miracle the stay is granted, any funds raised for housing the dogs offsite will be transferred to the final phase of the project. We will need to raise approximately $95,000 to house them offsite to allow for the appeal process.

The third and final phase is the development of a soundproof dog facility. This building will be built either on our current property near the back or on a new property, depending upon how the appeal is resolved.

Our preference is to work with the township and build a soundproof facility on our current property. This is the best possible solution for our dogs and the community as a whole.
