The Dads Of North Rigton School (The DONRS) are fundraising

Support our Bed Race mission to fund new sports and life-saving equipment.

We’re the DONRS – the Dads of North Rigton School – and on June 14th

we’ll be running the Great Knaresborough Bed Race. Only we’ve made it a DOUBLE BED RACE – by raising funds for not one but TWO excellent causes to make our community healthier and safer.

Half the money we raise will be used to provide much needed sports facilities for students at North Rigton School. This summer the PTA hopes to invest in new playground spaces including two trim trails and an outdoor classroom to make playtimes more active and fun. They will also build two new storage units, and need to fill them with new balls, skipping ropes, and bean bags to replaces the current ones which have been damaged or lost.

But that’s only half the story. We’re also raising money in memory of Jimi Dickinson, who tragically passed away after collapsing a week after celebrating his 51st birthday in Huby. Faye, Jimi’s partner of 25 years, will be running the race with us. To say thank you to the residents of the village, and hopefully save lives by responding more quickly next time, 50p of every pound we raise together will go towards another defibrillator site for the community.
