The Complete Mozart Violin Sonatas - live

Grammy Nominated Artists, Joshua Pierce  and Andrew Smith , formed the Smith Pierce Duo  in 2016 with the intention of performing the complete works of Mozart for violin and piano.

In 2019 the duo gave six broadcast concerts for NPR's WSHU. "Mozart: Hidden in Plain Sight"  was a unique survey of the life and works of one of music's greatest geniuses. The works for violin and piano offer an inspiring and original insight into Mozart's early childhood, his young married life with Costanza and his growth to a mature artist in Vienna. The six concerts captivated audiences with rarely heard works, great masterpieces and forgotten gems and were captured live for radio broadcast. After the great success of the concert series WHSU made plans to produce a podcast series is to be complement the broadcast concerts. "Hidden in Plain Sight" is a 4 part podcast series, recorded this summer. Hosted and produced by WSHU's Director of Music Kate Remington the podcasts feature discussions and historical perspective on Mozart's life and works and his life on the road as the greatest child prodigy in the history of music.

The CD Release
Working with Grammy winning producer and audio legend, Rob Fraboni, the duo has prepared a 6 CD set - captured from the live studio performances for NPR.  MSR Classics will release the set - the first live performances recording in front of a studio audience.  The release will be groundbreaking in several ways:

In addition to featuring the entire catalogue of Mozart's great masterpieces for violin and piano, ....... 

- It will feature Mozart's very first compositions written as a child ( his rarely heard Op.1 and Op.2 written while only seven)
- It will offer a rare glimpse of the the neglected "fragments" written during Mozart's courtship with Costanza - one of the first times these fragments have been presented to the public in their original form
- It will be the first time these works have been issued from live performances, capturing the excitement and revelation of a studio audience.
