The Commentary Track is an acclaimed podcast hosted by author and film historian Frank Thompson. It features in-depth conversations with leading authorities on film history -- authors, biographers, archivists, filmmakers, performers.
Authorities such as Kevin Brownlow, Leonard Maltin, Rudy Behlmer, Sam Gill, David Shepard, Tracey Goessel, Carl Davis, Jim Beaver, Joe Dante, Joseph McBride, Marilyn Ann Moss, Scott Eyman, Anthony Slide, Randy Skretvedt, and many others.
"Acclaimed," however, does not translate to profitable, or even sustainable. The Commentary Track has struggled financially since its first episode in 2012.
An earlier fund-raiser in 2017 fell far short of its goal, netting just enough money to get the website redesigned and to make sure that every episode of The Commentary Track and its sister podcast, Radio Movies with Frank Thompson, would remain accessible to everyone.
Our hope now is that we can manage the expenses of keeping the website in operation and record new episodes.
