Sustainable Milwaukee Urban Farm Makes A Comeback

The Collaborative Farm // Former Growing Power

For the last two years, we have laid the groundwork to make vision a reality.  We have had the support of the City of Milwaukee, various community organizations and stakeholders who laid the foundation for the reconstruction of the building that the coffeehouse will occupy. Your donations will be used to pay for the cost of the buildout of the coffeehouse space  Additional funds raised will be used for updates or repairs to among other areas, water retention ponds, aquaponics systems and music/spoken word venue.  Please join in the momentum of realizing our dream of building a special place where people communicate within a farming environment using sustainable energy practices. The Farm and the community, working hand in hand, can effectuate immediate change.

With your support The Farm will evolve into a diverse ecosystem of natural characters coexisting and complimenting some of humanities best urban attributes. This unique coffeehouse will be a positive gathering place for people of all nationalities and ages. The Farm values diversity and invites farmers from all over the world to grow a large variety of crops which hold strong onto cultures and traditions. The Farm environment is rich with history, knowledge, and discovery. Pairing such energy with coffee, art, and music we believe will radiate good experiences and transform lives for the better. We have seen The Farm at high heights and our vision is clear of the potential it holds to make positive impact.

Food grown on site will be sold in the cafe and farmers market leaving only a few ft. of transportation compared to 1,500 miles (the average distance a meal travels to a consumer in America).  Children with no backyards will be welcomed and encouraged to learn about where food comes from and find mentorship from local farmers and teachers. A community which values strong culture and healthy food will begin to grow and heal itself from trauma, stress, and change.

Not everyone needs to be a farmer but most people deserve to know where their food comes from so that a connection and understanding can take root. Only then can people grow into healthy human beings and put value on their own bodies. Coffee, art, and music are tools our team has decided to use to positively market this concept in a mutually beneficial manner. We see a lot of people becoming addicted to things easily and although caffeine  may be a drug it is one which can be used publicly. Bringing a diversity of cultures, idea's, and experiences into a safe and open environment will allow people to learn and understand each other no matter their color, age, or financial status. The coffee will be affordable, the food will be affordable, the experiences will be affordable. The sustainable efficiencies and systematic design in which The Farm is being created will allow such a concept.

Solar systems on the property create electrical buy back and geothermal heat through glycol heated fish tanks. Water collection systems on the property trap all water which hit the greenhouses and transfer them into holding tanks on the east end of the property for all greenhouses and 6 of the hoop-houses to utilize. Local food production cuts out the transportation, packaging, waste, and marketing of a product. The organic eggs and vegetables grown on site will be affordable in the shop and market because these costs are eliminated. Utilities for the facility will be covered by renewable energies and slowly go down as the team grows and finds more innovative solutions.

Solar stain glass roofing, picnic tables, and windows are real inventions now available and the team plans to invest in these sustainable innovations once the coffeehouse is profitable. Aquaponics holding lake perch, are on display throughout the farm showing how rivers, vegetable, and plants interact to filter water and absorb nitrate fish byproducts. Science, research, and design will be open to the public both physically for new coffee customers and online through blogs and video's. Ultimate Farm Collaborative Inc. believes in open communication and is designating The Farm as a data sharing facility to allow this vital knowledge to be shared with the world so more cities and communities can redesign themselves.

The world needs models like this to succeed because it will allow humans to first understand each other and come together in environments which then also include nature and technology. Once the barriers are broken down from human to human, people can explore conversations about the planet, innovation, and creativity. The Farm holds this ability to allow people to respect each other first, rather than discriminate or judge. The natural air, smells, and vibration of the site immediately makes people begin to wonder, appreciate beauty, and want to help others. The Farm brings out the best in people. We are excited to develop a small business focused on bringing more people together and have high hope and faith that the results will be unimaginably positive.

Please help us create this space in Milwaukee and consider stopping by in person to see what we mean. We want to thank everyone who has collaborated with us on this journey, everyone who has already committed funds to making this possible, and everyone of you who has taken the time to read and connect with us today. We believe hope and inspiration are better motivators than fear or hate so we will not entertain the negative consequences of our species but rather strive towards real life solutions. We are blessed to be in the position to bring this farm back to life however we do need your help to make this happen. Together we can build this coffeehouse and open the doors for endless possibilities, discoveries, and relationships.  Together we can set humanity up for success, health, and peace. It starts with coffee, but its really all about food.

God Bless,

Tyler Schmitt

The Farm website will be offering three items if you would like to go there and purchase one. Your donations to this campaign are welcomed with extreme gratitude however at a minimum we would like to offer a coffee mug, hoodie, or music festival experience in return for your support. In the event friends, followers, and individuals passionate about the sustainability movement will then be connected and invited to share idea's or stories. if you are reading this after 11/11 no worries the event will run through November and a group may be formed online to keep like minded people together and see what happens.
