In the summer of 2019 Jack watched a moving video taken by the father of Anna. She volunteers for IReach Africa (iReachAfrica.com) as project leader at a school in Chipindaumwe Mozambique, one of the worlds poorest countries.
The video showed the children at the school being completely overwhelmed and excited because Anna's father had painted and tiled their classroom.
Jack was greatly challenged that he had come to take the privileged life he has for granted, and wanted to do something that would change these children's lives.
Out of this was born the plan to do an event to raise money that Anna can use for the children at the school.
Jack shared his vision with family and friends and slowly a team of 6 (Ben, Jack, Jake, James, Jonathan & Paul) came together. This team pledged to do a special triathlon to raise £3000 for the school.
The triathlon is made up of a 30 mile walk, 14 mile canoe and 100 mile bike ride over 3 days from August 29-31st 2020
The money is intended to be a gift to the school that they can use to help the children where most needed. Anna has given us a list of the type of things they would like to use the money for.
* Cost of uniforms for 2021
* New toys for the nursery and pre-school programme
* Goal posts for the children to play football
* Clothes for the annual clothing give away, where they give a new outfit to each child in the local community.
* Maize seed for next planting season
We were blown away when we saw this list and realised that they don't even have goal posts to play football!!!
We would greatly appreciate it if you would support us in doing this event for these children, their school and the local community.
A part from a small transaction fee that GOFUNDME take, all money will go to the School.
