The Brockway Fund

This is to introduce my friends, Jenifer(56) and Marc (Lou) Brockway(66).

Jennifer and Lou are facing financial obstacles related to a series of very unfortunate medical situations, which have piggybacked.
My first meeting with these two dear friends occurred a little over 2 years ago. I liked them immediately. They never took themselves too seriously, and were very warm, open, and kind-hearted people. They have a pretty clear understanding of their shortcomings and have worked daily on making changes to improve them. That can’t be said for most. I judge most things these days by “Does it add to or subtract from the quality of my life”. Since our paths have crossed it has been, to say the very least, very special. I view their behaviors as giving not taking,(more rare still).

Shortly after we met, Lou was diagnosed with what was then stage 4 and is now end stage lung cancer. He underwent immune therapy and was in the 1% which backfired and attacked his ability to swallow and speak, among other things . In fact, the treatment began shutting down his organs. Lou drove a bus and had a very moderate income. Jen has done pick up work (Secretarial, Amish transport, estate sales).

In addition to Lou’s terminal status, Jennifer broke her foot about a month and a half ago and has been unable to work. With all life has confronted her with, she is being inundated with bills. This is something we can help change.

I want you to know they have been big music fans all their lives. Music is piped through their house constantly. When encouraged by a mutual friend to take my guitar over and play for Lou, I took the whole band. The Family Dog played on the front yard for Jen and Lou, their entire family, and neighbors up and down the road for an hour and a half. I can’t tell you how proud I was of the band that night. They drove a long way and gave from the heart, their time and talents, expecting nothing. Something wonderful happened that night in the giving, sharing and receiving. My trajectory rose, my spiritual and emotional positioning improved and with that the quality of my life.

I am, on Jen and Lou’s behalf, presenting you with an opportunity. To listen ,act, give and receive in the experience, and help to create an answer to a need. Change, both for your neighbor and yourself….I choose to define Love in an action and not in an ideological  format…."your good, at my expense"…

On behalf of the Brockways, from the bottom, of my heart I can’t thank you enough.

Yours Aye,
Donald Stewart Landies,
